PREMIER JEWISH SINGLES is again offering
E. Europe but it is now designated as Central Europe
(Vienna, Prague, & Budapest) as the main part
of our program and for those who want to continue
to visit the fastest growing Jewish resurgence in
Europe, we are offering Berlin as an optional finale.
Budapest is one of the most beautiful cities in the
world and has developed its location not by accident.
Check out the fortification of Gellert Hill and the
Danube River which runs right next to this Hill and
through the city of the city. The Celts settled on
Gellert Hill and later in the Romans built a settlement
at today’s Obuda (later named Buda in the 13th
century). It was the Magyar Conquest that settled
both sides of the river and collectively called these
sides Pest but later the name was join to form Budapest
in 1873. Budapest has something for everyone; old
world charm and modern events, magnificent architecture,
grand coffee houses and trendy cafes, wonderful classical
music in the Opera House and modern nightclubs, shiny
new shopping malls and little antique shops and its
many beautiful bridges.
Jews played an important part in the history of these
three divided sections of Buda, Pest and Obuda. Despite
their persecution and the terror of the 20th century,
we still can find monuments of the once thriving
Jewish Budapest.
Vienna has plenty to offer everyone; it is described
as Europe’s culture capital. Sightseeing opportunities
are be found in abundance. Wander along narrow, medieval
alleyways or cross imperial squares, view Schonbrunn
Palace or the Imperial (Hofburg) Palace in the footsteps
of Sissi and Emperor Franz Josef. Marvel at the majestic
architecture, steeped in history but also boasts
the comforts and infrastructure of a modern city!
Vienna has been the city of music for centuries and
home
to Mozart, Beethoven, Schubert and Johann Strauss.
This city has also produced world-famous artists
and its museums contain some of the world’s
largest and most distinguished collections. Replenish
your energy in one of the many famous Viennese cafes
to enjoy their famous “sachar torte”.
What could be better!
Prague is the “Jewel in the Crown” of
Central Europe and tourism plays an important role
in the history of the city since the Middle Ages.
In 1992 the entire centre of Prague was listed in
the UNESCO World Cultural and Natural Heritage Register.
Prague’s city center comprises four areas,
spanning both banks of the Vitava River. On one side
is the Old Town (Stare Mesto) with its Old Town Square;
the New Town (Nove Mesto) with Wenceslas Square;
the Jewish Quarter (Josefov). On the other side is
the Lesser Quarter (Mala Strana) which leads up to
Prague Castle which is one of the premier sites to
visit here and it offers wonderful views over the
city. This Castle has overlooked the city since the
9th century. Crossing the Bridge, you can watch musicians,
artists, and other forms of entertainment.
And for those who want to continue their exploration
of this fascinating part of Central Europe, you will
not want to miss Berlin. This city was founded in
the 13th century and has a most eventful history.
Almost no other major city has experienced such frequent,
radical change transforming the face of this city.
Since the fall of the Wall on November 9, 1989, the
city has undergone rapid and dramatic change. It
is also the seat of the German Parliament and government.
Berlin has always regarded itself a city of knowledge
and culture since the days of Friedrich the Great
in the 18th century. Judiasm has again begun to flourish
and has become the fastest growing population in
Europe due to its influx of Russian Jews and others
returning to Germany. You won’t want to miss
the Jewish Museum and the Holocaust Memorial!
